eyelids creeping open,
the room was a blur.
everything switched
while i had lain in bed.
my rosy cheeks grew pale
as the plaster on the wall.
my cherry lips faded,
becoming a stale desert.
when i coughed, an earthquake commenced,
further cracking the surface of my mouth.
veins overcame my eyes,
streaks taking control.
the scars that marked my body
bled on,
decorating the clean sheets
with seeping stains.
more than anything,
i wanted to leave.
more than anything,
i wanted the colors
to be in the right place again.
