This shoot was inspired by retrofuturism and the cultural developments influenced by events in the Space Age. The increasing preoccupation with the future and emerging technologies prompted a new wave of art and media in American pop culture. In his book, Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth, Buckminster Fuller put it much more simply: "we are all astronauts."
